Building Bigger Connections

Building from the Teens @ Home project, this study explored how COVID-19 affected mentoring relationships between teens and adults, recognizing the role these relationships play in building resilience. In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada (BBBSC), we conducted individual semi-structured interviews with mentors and mentees to gather qualitative insights into their experiences during the pandemic. Findings from the study informed recommendations for improving youth services, particularly those offered by BBBSC, and supported the organization’s efforts to adapt its programming to online formats.

The project was funded by an SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant.
