Dr. Aaron H Devor, PhD, FSSSS, FSTLHE, is the Chair in Transgender Studies at the University of Victoria and has been studying and teaching about transgender topics since the mid-1980s. He’s an author of versions 6, 7, and 8 of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health’s (WPATH) Standards of Care. He is also the author of numerous well-cited scholarly articles, and the widely-acclaimed books FTM: Female-Io-Male Transsexuals in Society (2016, 1997), Lambda-Literary-Awards-finalist The Transgender Archives: Foundations for the Future (2014), and Gender Blending: Confronting the Limits of Duality (1989). He has delivered lectures to audiences around the world, including more than 40 keynote and plenary addresses. He is a national-award-winning teacher, an elected member of the International Academy of Sex Research, an elected Fellow of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, and the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. He serves on the Editorial Boards the Archives of Sexual Behavior and The Journal of Sex Research, as well as on the Canada Research Chairs College of Reviewers and the Advisory Board of the Digital Transgender Archives. Dr. Devor, an out trans man, is the Founder and Subject Matter Expert of the world’s largest Transgender Archives, Founder and Host of the Moving Trans History Forward conferences, a former Dean of Graduate Studies (2002-2012), and a professor of Sociology, at the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.
