  • Many thanks to Cliff Haman for his 2 years of service on the UVic Chapter Executive and the PEA Association Executive!!

Question Period:

  1. Can the UVic PEA list-serve be populated on an opt-OUT basis, as opposed to an opt-in basis? That would allow more members to be reached initially.
    • Due to Provincial PEA policies around membership information, no, this is not possible. Lists must be voluntary.
  2. What should you do if you receive email asking if you pay Union Dues and you’re not sure who it is from?
    • Delete it and call the PEA Office – it may be spam!!
    • If it is from the Provincial PEA office, that is ok.
  3. Bargaining questions:
    • Are PEA Chapters autonomous from each other in bargaining? – Yes
    • How does bargaining work? – Tony gave brief explanation
    • Where do we get ideas for what to bring to the bargaining table? – Members, other unions on campus, other similar organizations (SFU/UBC).
