Over the&nbsp;last ten years thousands have gathered from all across&nbsp;Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and Powell River to share knowledge, connect with colleagues, and celebrate the work of libraries and archives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this year\u2019s VILSC, we invite contributors to reflect on the past, present, and future of their work.&nbsp; How have our libraries&nbsp;and the social, political, cultural, economic,&nbsp;and technological contexts in which&nbsp;they&nbsp;operate&nbsp;changed in&nbsp;the last ten years? How do we forecast changes to come in the next ten and beyond? And how do we enact&nbsp;the changes we want to see?&nbsp;Topics might include, but are by no means limited to:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reflections on\u00a0previous\u00a0presentations at VILSC\u00a0(and, if applicable,\u00a0updates on ongoing projects)\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mentoring presentations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Envisioning what the next ten years of libraries and archives will look like\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What projects or initiatives have you enacted (or want to enact) that are future-focussed?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What can we learn from any successes or failures of the past ten years?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>VILSC is committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment. We encourage proposals that:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Highlight diverse voices, perspectives, and lived experiences\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address equity and accessibility in library services and workplaces\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore decolonization, Indigenous knowledge systems, and reconciliation in library practice\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Challenge systemic barriers and imagine more just futures for our communities\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals from presenters of all backgrounds, identities, and career stages are welcome.
