About

The Team

Meagan Hufnagel is working towards a History Major with an Anthropology Minor in her final year at the University of Victoria.  She is not sure what she wants to do with that when she grows up but she has become very tired of people asking if she is going to be a teacher.

David Somerville is working towards a History Major with an additional focus area on Geography at the University of Victoria. I hope to have completed my History Degree by 2017 and after that I will apply to UVIC’s Education Program so I can fulfill my goal of becoming a high school teacher.

A City Goes to War Project

“A City Goes to War” is a project of the University of Victoria made possible by a generous grant from Veteran’s Affairs Canada.  In the summer of 2013 a team of history set up the framework for the site and collected the initial data sets to support the on-line archive and service record database.  In addition, the team developed a package of material to support high school history  programs. Over the period 2014-2018, the site will provide a platform for the on-line publication of new research material about Canadian cities during the Great War. Further information can be found at: A City Goes To War

Canadian Red Cross Victoria History Project

This project was started in September 2014 and involves the cataloguing of the archives of the Canadian Red Cross in Victoria, research on the history of the Victoria Branch, documentation of that history and construction of a micro-museum at Red Cross House on Fairfield Road. The project is being run by Red Cross volunteers.
