The Red Cross in Victoria relied upon fundraising campaigns and the generosity of the public in order to complete its many projects during the First World War. This was done through a variety of community events such as a linen shower, a boxing match, school groups, and of course the famous little fundraiser, Muggins. The monies were used to purchase supplies for Red Cross projects at the front, including medical equipment, comfort bags for hospitalized men, and occasionally to help families who traveled to Europe to be nearer their injured soldiers.
