The U&U Lab. Unlearning & Undoing White Supremacy and Indigenous-Specific Racism in Population & Public Health
We are an action-oriented research collaboration of First Nations, Métis, and settler health scholars, leaders, and practitioners.
We work to advance the rights and health of Indigenous Peoples by dismantling Indigenous-specific racism and white supremacy within population and public health systems
Our Research Aims:
Mapping patterns of white supremacy and Indigenous-specific racism in population and public health structures, policies, practices, norms, and values.
Building, testing, and sharing evidence-based tools to advance true reconciliation in population and public health.
Asking “is what we are doing working?” so that we can adapt and improve.
We acknowledge the unceded and occupied Coast Salish territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations where our offices are located. We recognize and express our gratitude for the medicines in the First Nations territories that stretch across every inch of “British Columbia” (BC). We recognize generations of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit from elsewhere in “Canada” living in BC who have inherent Indigenous rights to health and wellness.
