The Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) and its Student Advisory Council (SAC) is excited to announce several opportunities for students across Canada to join our dynamic team. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals for the following roles: undergraduate and graduate chair, treasurer and general member.

The SAC is the student body of the CAP, representing, supporting, and unifying physics students from coast to coast. We are an egalitarian, diverse, inclusive, and action-oriented group committed to advocating for Canadian physics students both nationally and internationally.

Right now, we’re excited to announce several openings:

•    Undergraduate Chair and Graduate Chair: together the chairs lead meetings, interface with CAP, and generally help out with top-level organization of the SAC.
•    Treasurer: helps design and optimize our budget.
•    General Member: flexible position, can be a part of various teams such as Social Media, Events, Website team, International affairs working groups, etc.
•    Indigenous, Prairies, LGBTQIA+ and Black Community Representatives: to help us make sure the SAC is useful for everyone.
•    CAP Graduate Councilor: Attend CAP Advisory Council meetings and provide a graduate student perspective to the leadership of the CAP

Note: You can apply for chair, general member or treasurer roles and act as a Community or Regional Representative.

Eligibility: any student at a Canadian institution can join. We encourage a diverse pool of applicants, whether or not you’re applying for one of the Representative positions. We’ll help you figure out CAP membership so don’t worry if you’re not a member yet (Undergraduates can join as affiliates at no cost during their entire undergraduate program. For graduate students, their first year of membership with the CAP is free, following which there is a nominal annual fee).

Commitment level: ~1-3 hours per week is normal, with a 1 hour bi-weekly SAC coordination meeting. These are volunteer positions, so ultimately the schedule, outside of meetings, is up to you.

Please fill out the form below, which will be accepting submissions until October 29th, 2025: SAC Member Application 2025 – Google Form

Warm regards,
Your SAC
