I can’t quite wrap my head around time these days. I’m losing track of it, or it seems like forever that we’ve been in this exhausting mode, or it’s just flying by and oh-my-stars-classes-start-when?!?
Breathe.
There are lots of resources that UVic has put together to help us move forward. Brightspace is the newest kid on the block, so it’s hard to remember that we’ve only been using Zoom since March. And for some of us, September will be the first time we are really using Zoom in all its, um, glory.
University Systems has recorded a series of Zoom training videos to get you started using the tool. There’s also a comprehensive Zoom resources page. Check out the videos though… I’m a little biased but I think they’re pretty good 🙂
Zoom is updating its application regularly, so today’s reminder is to update your Zoom client.
- Open Zoom on your workstation* and sign in (see Don’t Be a Zoom Guest if you need help on logging in) *i.e. open the Zoom application that is installed on your workstation – don’t log in to the web page.
- Click on the top right corner – a photo if you’ve updated your profile, or initials if you haven’t
- Click Check for Updates
Follow the prompts – should be pretty smooth sailing from here.
Tip: If the menu under your initials / photo looks like the one below, instead of the one above, you’ve logged into the website. You need to open the Zoom application that is installed on your computer.
PS Don’t forget to check out LTSI’s Teach Anywhere site for help with teaching technologies!
