We had a small but appreciative crowd for this month’s TED Talk Lunch. Here’s what we watched (with thanks to Annemarie and Jared!):
David Gallo: Underwater astonishments
“David Gallo shows jaw-dropping footage of amazing sea creatures, including a color-shifting cuttlefish, a perfectly camouflaged octopus, and a Times Square’s worth of neon light displays from fish who live in the blackest depths of the ocean.” Link to the Talk
Paul Nicklen: Tales of ice-bound wonderlands
“Diving under the Antarctic ice to get close to the much-feared leopard seal, photographer Paul Nicklen found an extraordinary new friend. Share his hilarious, passionate stories of the polar wonderlands, illustrated by glorious images of the animals who live on and under the ice.” Link to the Talk
Then, as an added bonus since we still had a bit of time, Michelle shared this cheeky li’l gem:
Ursus Wehrli: Tidying up art
“Ursus Wehrli shares his vision for a cleaner, more organized, tidier form of art — by deconstructing the paintings of modern masters into their component pieces, sorted by color and size.” Link to the Talk
Our next TTL is Wednesday, May 21. Watch for the invite!
Once again, a fascinating selection of TED talks with outstanding photos, especially of the underwater and polar parts of the earth.
Did you catch the quote from Marcel Proust in David Gallo’s underwater talk?

The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.

Very apt…
Thanks, Tammy, for getting us together to share these stimulating talks!
Cheers!
