Audacity Tutorial 1: Editing an Existing Audio File

This is the first video in a new series on common actions in Audacity. The tutorials here will vary in length more than the iMovie tutorials did, but will generally be somewhat longer.

This first video shows you how to import an audio file into Audacity, make some basic changes to it, and save and export the finished product.

This work is a derivative of “Tutorial – Editing an Existing Audio File” (manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_editing_an_existing_file.html) from the Audacity Manual (manual.audacityteam.org/o/index.html), used under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/).

  1. It’s come to my attention that SourceForge is now actively and intentionally distributing adware and malware through products on their site such as the open source image editor GIMP. The creators of GIMP removed it from SourceForge in 2013, but SourceForge has recently started offering the program again, ignoring the wishes of the rightful creators. Worse, both the Windows and OS X versions of GIMP come bundled with adware designed to trick you into installing more malware or giving up personal information. Clearly, SourceForge should no longer be trusted.

I would advise anyone looking to download Audacity to do so through web.audacityteam.org, the legitimate site run by the creators of Audacity, rather than an increasingly shady third party. For more information, please visit http://www.thesafemac.com/time-to-boycott-sourceforge/
