Nicole graduated from UVic with a BSc (Biochemistry) in 2020. She worked in the Swayne Lab during her last two and a half years of her undergrad and began her PhD in UVic’s neuroscience graduate program in September 2020 (co-supervised by Dr. Laura Arbour). She was awarded a CIHR Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship in 2023. With her background in Biochemistry, Nicole focuses on biochemical approaches to understand the cell biology of ankyrin-B – an ion channel scaffolding protein – and its role in heart and brain development. When she is not in the lab, Nicole enjoys traveling to new places, and hiking.
