With only a month left of classes left, I know many of you may be experiencing burnout and exhaustion. It can be hard to have the motivation to get the day started and stay productive. Know that you are not alone, and you are so close to being finished, you can do it!!
I know something that helps spark my productivity is having an enjoyable place to study! It is always important to have things to look forward to in your day, and if you look forward to going to your study space you will be more motivated to get work done!!
5 places to try studying at on Campus:
1) Library:
Obviously we all know the library is the main place to study, but you may not have known that there are different floors for more quiet days and even some great hidden spots in the upper area!
2) Finnerty Gardens:
If you are looking for a quiet outdoor space to study in, try this location! There are benches, and lots of spread out lawn that makes a great outdoor study space!
3) Student Union Building – Upper Lounge
Did you know the SUB has an upper lounge that students can use to catch some study time, or hang out and relax! It is a really nice area to get some work done, and its right in the same building as the cheapest eats on campus, along with the cheapest printing for your project needs !
4) Mac’s Cafe:
Mac’s Cafe located in the Maclaurin Building is a great little spot to grab a coffee, and a great sandwich and get some studying done! It is especially quiet right in the morning!
5) Finnerty Gardens:
If you are looking for an outdoor place to study, you should try this outdoor spot on campus! There are benches and lots of open space that makes for a great spot!
Lastly, take your studies to the beach and venture to Cadboro Bay Beach! It is only a 10 minute walk from UVic and it makes for a great study spot on a sunny day!!
Some other helpful tips to bring joy into your last hard month of classes:
Buy some great snacks to fuel your brain!
It may sound silly but I know when I’m finished studying and I go to have a snack I look forward to it making my day!! My favourites right now are fresh fruit and popcorn!
Call up a friend or family in your life!
Staying connected is so important for your mental health! Connect with someone you love in your life, and spend some time talking to them!
Make time for nature!
Getting outside makes a huge difference on your mood! Making time for at least 30 minutes a day of outside activity will make all the difference! Need an idea of a new walk? Grab a friend and walk to Cadboro Beach right by the school!! Or hike up Mount Douglas this weekend!
I hope everyone has a great rest of March! Remember to take time to fuel your brain, and body! Give yourself some grace! You have made it so hard this school year, and you are almost done!!
