There are so many reasons to volunteer.
It is good for your mental health, helping others can help you reduce stress and gain perspective on your life which in turn may help deal you with struggles in your life.
Volunteer experiences help you gain professional experience for your future career, which is important for university students to prepare for. It also allows you to explore different career options through the diverse volunteer opportunities.
It allows for community building – when individuals get together and work towards a purpose and a common goal, friendships are created and a sense of closeness is established within the community.
You have the opportunity to learn new things – whether it is about yourself, other people or what your community has to offer – knowledge is power.
Volunteering can have a great impact, your volunteer work may make a difference in someone’s life – and that may be the most important reason of all to volunteer– you can make a difference!
I’ve been volunteering all throughout my university years and it has been such a great learning experience for me. I’ve met so many different types of people from so many different places, I’ve been exposed to situations which allowed me to really appreciate what I have and has pushed me to practice gratitude in my everyday life.
