According to an article in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timescolonist.com\/local-news\/solar-storm-could-bring-chaos-and-a-chance-of-spectacle-8732272\"><em>Times Colonist<\/em><\/a>\u00a0 the &#8220;exceptionally strong solar storm&#8221; could&#8217;ve caused damage to satellites and high-voltage power lines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpace weather is hard to predict \u2026 it\u2019s complicated \u2014 but get outside and have a look,\u201d said Justin Albert, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Victoria in an interview with the <em>Times Colonist<\/em>. Albert also explained that even though the storm had a ranking of 4 out of 5 on the solar-storm scale, it was extremely difficult to predict the effect it will have here on Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/science\/physics\/people\/people\/faculty\/albert_justin.php\">Justin Albert<\/a> is an experimental physicist and professor in the faulty of physics and astronomy at UVic. His areas of expertise include but are not limited to experimental particle and astroparticle physics. Throughout his career, Dr. Albert has also spent his time working on the <a href=\"https:\/\/atlas.cern\/\">ATLAS<\/a> experiment, cofounder of <a href=\"https:\/\/projectaltair.org\/\">ALTAIR<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orcasat.ca\/\">ORCASat<\/a> projects, a creator of the <a href=\"https:\/\/babar.heprc.uvic.ca\/\">BABAR<\/a> experiment.<\/p>\n<p>Interested in reading more about Dr. Albert&#8217;s work?
