{"id":3022,"date":"2022-11-14T09:32:25","date_gmt":"2022-11-14T17:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/onlineacademiccommunity.uvic.ca\/scholarlycommunications\/?p=3022"},"modified":"2024-04-12T08:15:15","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T15:15:15","slug":"uvics-2022-pathways-to-impact-grant-caetano-dorea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/onlineacademiccommunity.uvic.ca\/scholarlycommunications\/2022\/11\/14\/uvics-2022-pathways-to-impact-grant-caetano-dorea\/","title":{"rendered":"UVic&#8217;s 2022 &#8220;Pathways to Impact&#8221; Grant: Caetano Dorea"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>UVic&#8217;s &#8220;Pathways to Impact&#8221; fund aims to move original research that aligns with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/news\/topics\/2021+impact-rankings+news\">United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs<\/a>) and move it into real-world applications for greatest impact.\u00a0The fund is a partnership between UVic&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/research-innovation\/research-partnerships\/index.php\">Research Partnerships and Knowledge Mobilization<\/a> (RPKM) unit and <a class=\"icoa icoa--out\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/library\/\">UVic Libraries<\/a>.\u00a0Funded projects will make their research openly accessible, including via <a href=\"https:\/\/dspace.library.uvic.ca\/\">UVicSpace<\/a>, contributing to the democratization of knowledge and knowledge equity. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/research-innovation\/research-partnerships\/mobilizing-knowledge-fund\/index.php\">inaugural UVic fund<\/a> is one of a few institutionally led knowledge-mobilization funding initiatives across Canadian research universities and among the first to directly target the UN&#8217;s Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/research-innovation\/research-partnerships\/mobilizing-knowledge-fund\/index.php\">A prospective cohort study of access to safe drinking water in Malawi \u2013 Community dissemination and engagement<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>UN Sustainable Development Goals<\/strong>: 3, 6, and 17<\/h3>\n<p>Among the seven projects that were selected for the 2022 <em>Pathways to Impact<\/em> fund is<br \/>\n<em>A prospective cohort study of access to safe drinking water in Malawi<\/em>, the summary of the doctoral research of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crad.ulaval.ca\/membres\/membre?Membre=1922\">Dr. Alexandra Cassivi<\/a> \u2013 supervised by <a href=\"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9367-0668\">Dr. Caetano Dorea<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cassivi\u2019s research potential was recognized in 2020 with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greentalents.de\/index.php\">Green Talents<\/a> award. She is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at Universit\u00e9 Laval.\u00a0Dr. Dorea is a professor at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvic.ca\/ecs\/civil\/index.php\">Department of Civil Engineering<\/a>, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Victoria, research group leader of the <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineacademiccommunity.uvic.ca\/ph2e\/\">Public Health &amp; Environmental Engineering (PH2E) Lab<\/a>, and the director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washcanada.ca\/\">NSERC CREATE in Water &amp; Sanitation for Low-Resource Contexts (#WASHCanada)<\/a> project.<\/p>\n<p>This research project is dedicated to exploring access to safe drinking water and sanitation for diverse populations in Malawi.
