We have just the tool for you!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Starting in 2022, UVic Libraries is providing access to<\/span> Altmetric Explorer<\/span><\/a>, which serves exactly these purposes (and many more).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Altmetrics<\/a>, in the broader sense, are a way to measure impact by capturing online mentions of research outputs such as papers and datasets. Altmetric Explorer, Plum Analytics<\/a> and Impactstory<\/a> are some popular altmetrics tools, and the Library has recently purchased a subscription to Altmetric Explorer.<\/p>\n Altmetric Explorer is an online tool that searches the web for \u201conline attention\u201d of research outputs. It captures the attention for all types of research outputs including theses and dissertations, datasets, software and code, media files, etc. Altmetric Explorer pulls data<\/a> from:<\/p>\n The overall attention accumulates into an algorithm that calculates the <\/span><\/span>Altmetric Score<\/span><\/span><\/a> and provides a visualization (the \u201c<\/span><\/span>Altmetric donut<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u201c).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Altmetric<\/span> Explorer <\/span><\/span>is a powerful tool that<\/span><\/span> can provide contextual information when documenting the impact of your work in CVs, tenure & promotion dossiers, or grant and job applications.
