This subsequent book publication considers the potential of Holocaust memorialization and memory work to serve as a catalyst for addressing discrimination today by exploring different innovative teaching practices in higher education as well as bold and creative civic and institutional initiatives. Contributing authors come from across Europe and North America and their work showcases new directions in Holocaust education and commemoration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">The book,\u00a0published by the Tom Lantos Institute, is edited by Andrea Peto, associate professor at Central European University and Helga Thorson, associate professor at UVic. Those interested can <a href=\"http:\/\/tomlantosinstitute.hu\/content\/future-holocaust-memorialization-confronting-racism-antisemitism-and-homophobia-through\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">download the free electronic version of the book at TLI<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Co-Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1092 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/onlineacademiccommunity.uvic.ca\/scholarycommunications\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1718\/2016\/11\/profile-thorson.jpg\" alt=\"profile-thorson\" width=\"113\" height=\"158\" \/>Dr. Helga Thorson is an Associate Professor as well as Chair of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies. She is the co-founder of \u201cThe Future of\u00a0Holocaust Memorialization: Confronting Racism, Antisemitism and Homophobia\u00a0through Memory Work\u201d research collective and one of the co-organizers of\u00a0the group\u2019s first conference at Central European University in Budapest in\u00a02014.
