eTextbooks for Students (Summer 2024)

We are continuing with UVic Libraries etextbooks for students project, which began in fall 2021. The project’s goal is to track the use of library licensed ebooks assigned in courses for the summer term. The project offers a list of electronic versions of course textbooks which students can access through the Library. This initiative supports efforts to make education more affordable and accessible, which is crucial to student success.

This project complements the Libraries’ advocacy efforts and aligns with its Strategic Directions. It also helps us to understand how often the Libraries’ licensed resources are being used. The Libraries’ extensive ebook collection allows instructors to assign quality course materials, while providing affordable choices for students.

These savings improve students’ access to affordable, quality education and are closely aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals #4.

During the 2024 summer term, instructors saved UVic students a total of $62,603.10 by identifying 29 titles used in 22 courses. Please check back here at the beginning of the fall 2024 semester for further savings.
