Congratulations to Matt Huculak, Digital Scholarship Librarian at U of Victoria Libraries. He was the founding Managing Editor of the Modernism/modernity Print Plus platform, which has just won the Association of American Publishers Prose Award for “Innovation in Publishing”: http://newsroom.publishers.org/association-of-american-publishers-announces-subject-category-winners-of-2019-prose-awards/

https://modernismmodernity.org is a publishing platform associated with Modernism/modernity, the flagship journal of the Modernist Studies Association. Matt was on the development & design team with Johns Hopkins University Press, and helped to create the vision of a hybrid model of publication that made the online journal open access while being completely subsidized by the print journal.

The site was developed in 2013 to allow modernists, who study the period of electronic media, to supplement their print work with relevant film and audio clips. They are now able to embed media in the actual peer-reviewed content. The site will soon launch a new feature using Hypothesis in which “private classrooms” are created to allow classes of students to read and annotate the same document simultaneously.

Congratulations, Matt!
