We are pleased to announce that the Keeping It ReAL 2024 Organizing Committee and the BC Academic Libraries Section (BCALS) are once again partnering to host a two-day virtual conference scheduled for November 14 & 15.
Day one will be hosted by Keeping it ReAL and will be focused on the broad topic of Community Engagement.
This event seeks to explore the ways in which librarian research is connected to the communities we build and the relationships we nurture. By collaborating with others, we can move towards a research culture that better represents and values a broader diversity of professional and community perspectives. Participants will examine the impact, promise and challenges of relationship-building, both within and outside of the library. They might consider how this could lead to more impactful and sustainable research outcomes, as well as generative and insightful research relationships through which we can sustain and find joy in praxis. Together, we will reimagine the research process as one deeply rooted in community, collaboration, and the co-creation of knowledge.
Day two is the Knowledge and Idea Exchange 2024 hosted by BCALS.
Previously known as the “Winter Event”, the Knowledge and Idea Exchange 2024 will take place online on Friday, November 15. Hosted by BC Academic Libraries Section (BCALS), this event is a synchronous discussion and presentation forum for librarians, archivists, library workers, and students. Our aim is to promote the exchange of ideas among academic library workers and to provide a network of professional expertise resulting in excellent service in the post-secondary libraries of British Columbia, using the latest methods, systems, and technologies.
If you have any questions, please contact Keeping it ReAL chair Emily Nickerson at enickerson@uvic.ca, or the BCALS Executive at bcals@bcla.bc.ca.
