Please see the How to Access Services page for information about being referred to our services. Our services are by appointment only. We do not offer walk-in services.
Diagnostic assessments: We offer psychoeducational, and neuropsychological assessments. The purpose of these assessments is to provide diagnostic clarification, an understanding of each individual’s unique situation, and recommendations for appropriate interventions. Treatment is not provided as part of our assessment services. Given the training model of our clinic, please allow for approximately 8 weeks from initial intake session to completion of verbal feedback and receiving the report.
Psychotherapy: We offer psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families with the goal of assisting individuals to gain greater insight into their problems, cope more effectively with personal stresses and interpersonal conflicts, and achieve behavioural goals. We strive to provide empirically-supported interventions whenever possible. Typically, therapy services are offered from 8-12 weekly sessions that are 50 minutes in duration. Most psychotherapy services are offered in the form of individual therapy, however, group psychotherapy may be offered depending on the frequency of referrals for particular problems and availability of supervisors. Common concerns we see in the clinic include anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, OCD, perfectionism, and many more.
Special Training Considerations: The Psychology Clinic has the dual purpose of serving the community and training clinical psychology graduate students. As a result, all assessments and therapy sessions are videotaped on a secure and private video system within the UVic Psychology clinic so that Registered Psychologist Supervisors can review them for accuracy and supervision purposes. Further, services offered may vary based on what courses, practica, and supervisors are available. Video recordings never become a part of a client’s clinical file and are deleted immediately upon termination of the client’s service.
