This series examines the systematic principles by which a large portion of English vocabulary has evolved from Latin and (to a lesser degree) from Greek. All areas in health, law or the social sciences use specialized vocabulary based on Latin and Greek vocabulary. This open textbook helps you master the vocabulary: how words work and where they come from. The textbook may be of interest to Greek and Roman Studies departments across North America or to healthcare and law programs.
Grants: Funded by BCcampus‘ Open Educational Resource Grant.
Peter Smith (1933 – 2006) was founding Chair of the Classics Department (now named Greek and Roman Studies) and later served as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, both at the University of Victoria.
