The Open Hub was created with seed funding from UVic’s Strategic Framework Impact Fund to advance open education initiatives across teaching, learning, and research. The United Nations have identified Open Education as a critical component to quality education and UNESCO believes universal access to high-quality education contributes to peace, sustainable social and economic development, and intercultural dialogue. Through the Open Hub, our goal is to support creation, access, reuse, and redistribution of open educational resources (OER) and the innovative pedagogical practices they can enable. OER and open research can also replace expensive commercial textbooks and resources, some of which are not culturally inclusive. Our students and the public, both locally and internationally, will benefit from universal access to quality education. This will remove some of the financial barriers faced by our students and the public as we seek to elevate an educated global community. Your donation to the Open Hub at UVic will support:
- Open teaching tools and learning spaces
- Inspired teaching and research using open practices
- Jobs for students and open education initiatives
- Transformation to advance policy and culture on open access
