Cluster Director

Dr. Steven Street

Responsible for building and leading the cluster, as well as overseeing its effective operation. Steve spends 0.3 FTE as cluster director, and 0.7 FTE as a senior research associate in Ian Manners research group.

Steve was born in north west London, in the UK. After obtaining a Masters degree in chemistry from the University of Reading, he briefly worked for CEM Analytical Services before joining the Bristol Chemical Synthesis Centre for Doctoral Training in 2012 to obtain his PhD, working with Prof. M. Carmen Galan. Steve joined the Manners group in 2017 as an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow, moving to Victoria, BC in 2019. Steve has experience as a synthetic chemist, polymer scientist, nanoscientist, chemical biologist, and molecular/cell biologist. In the Manners lab, Steve’s research is focussed on pioneering the nanomedicine applications of precision non-spherical nanomaterials produced via crystallization-driven self-assembly (CDSA). Cluster Coordinator

Nadia Masri

Responsible for assisting the director with the clusters effective operation, direction, goals and objectives. Nadia is also responsible for planning, hosting, and organizing cluster events. She works 0.3 FTE as cluster coordinator, and 0.7 FTE as lab manager for the Willerth research group.

Nadia completed her undergrad in Microbiology, November 2019 at the University of Victoria. Nadia joined the Willerth lab as a volunteer in 2018 where she worked on a project to culture Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and derive them into dopaminergic neurons. After graduation, she started managing the lab and working on testing COVID-19 in wastewater. Nadia continues to manage the lab and has recently started her own charcuterie company, Kith + Kin Charcuterie, with her sisters.
