Co-op Student Feature: Chantaille Ash

Have you ever considered joining the co-op program at UVic to gain work experience?

Today’s post highlights Chantaille Ash, a UVic student who was able to travel to Europe by joining the program.

Chantaille is a biology major (with a neurobiology concentration) and a business minor who opted to complete a co-op in Aalen, Germany, by taking on the role of a Vision Technology Solutions Intern at the Aalen Zeiss Office.

At the beginning of 2022, Chantaille spent four months working for a company called Carl Zeiss Vision GmbH.

Her days consisted of assisting the Sales and Operations Readiness Manager in spearheading meetings with key distributors across all of Europe on the pipeline process of medical devices.

In doing so, Chantaille was able to refine her project management skills by leading European distributor engagement study analyses and generating proposals to improve meetings.

Talking to Chantaille, it is clear that this time abroad has taught her a lot about her career goals and offered her relevant and valuable work experience.

On top of her success, Chantaille was still able to find time to take advantage of her co-op location by exploring Europe!

Here are some of her favourite photos:

When reflecting on her experience, Chantaille encourages all UVic students to join the co-op program:

“The co-op program at UVic has helped me gain real-world career experience, and has helped contribute to my successes and shape my future career goals.”
