A Miracle On Broad Street

Hello Everyone!

I just finished my last exam this morning and I am feeling happy, tired and excited. This past Friday I went to an event that sparks the Christmas feeling in me.

I attended Miracle On Broad Street, which is an annual event in support of the charity CFAX Santas Anonymous. They raise as much money as possible over 12 hours. Anything helps!

CFAX Santas Anonymous gives toys and food hampers to families in need all over greater Victoria at Christmas time as well as providing grants and support for children and families throughout the year.

I have been volunteering with them since the age of ten and it is a cause I am very passionate and excited about.

Miracle on Broad Street is very fun to help with and attend, along with being a good cause. There is also live entertainment, some tasty tea, and a BEARY (very) nice bear kicking around to visit with!

When I arrived mid afternoon they were at $257,486.87. The room was bustling (busy) with movement, jitters and excitement.

Throughout the day they have lots of musical performances to see and listen to!

Here are some awesome firefighters talking about their donation and support of CFAX Santas Anonymous.

The career firefighters called Greater Victoria Firefighters Charitable Association gave a generous donation of $16,000.

The North Saanich Firefighters Association raised $3,000 with their Christmas tree chipping fundraiser.

My friends Russ and Santa Bear greeted people in and passing by the event. Santa Bear asked me to take a photo with him, and how could I say no to that?! You can find the bear at events around Victoria and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SantaBearCFAX.

Davids Tea was also kindly giving out some free tea, so of course, I got myself 5 of those tasty samples.

Who can resist with flavours like “Santa’s Secret” and “Caramel Shortbread”?

These lovely human beings, the Santas Anonymous volunteers and community partners, were working all day to make Miracle On Broad Street run smoothly.

Al Ferraby, board member and radio news host, and Executive Director of CFAX Santas Anonymous Christine Hewitt get ready to announce the final total. AND THE TOTAL IS *DRUM ROLL*

THE TOTAL SUPPORT RAISED FOR CFAX SANTAS ANONYMOUS AND THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES THEY HELP is $506,653.97.

CFAX Santas Anonymous helps the greater community all year round and it was so wonderful to see them have that much support from the community.

Thank you to everyone who donated, also if you’re now interested in donating or even volunteering (it’s a great community for people young and old), you can go to their website at http://cfaxsantas.com.

Thank you for reading! 🙂
