Researchers and instructors in UVic’s Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science have been implementing and reflecting on the role of generative AI in their courses for several years. In this panel, we will describe our experiences so far, including benefits and disadvantages, and initial results from formal in-class research studies we have conducted. There are potentially useful lessons for education beyond engineering and computer science disciplines.

Following short initial presentations, we will conduct a moderated discussion of the practical insights into the use of GenAI, the future of AI in university education, and its benefits and possible harms on our students.
