Another moon begins tomorrow, and according to the W\u0331S\u00c1NE\u0106 lunar calendar<\/a>, this is the time of year that the Sockeye Salmon returns to earth. It’s also the first New Moon since the start of \u0106ENQ\u00c1LES (Summer). Let’s honour the return of the Sockeye and the solstice with some support for our hosts!<\/p>\n

With it being summer, if you’ll be taking part in any of the events\u00a0on the land<\/span>, please bring<\/strong><\/em> a hat, dress in the best way for you to be in the sun\/heat, bring HEAPS of water, sunscreen (reef and stream safe, of course!), your \u00cdY, S\u1e30ALE\u023bENS (good heart\/mind\/feelings), and a lunch.<\/p>\n

If you don’t see an event you can make below, check with your local Nations to see what they have going on, and how you can support. If you live in the “Victoria” area, you can always get in touch with the Victoria Native Friendship Centre<\/a> and volunteer with them.<\/p>\n

\"\"Saturday 13 July<\/strong> from 10am-2pm<\/span> join our friends PEP\u00c1KE\u1e48 H\u00c1UTW\u0331<\/a><\/strong> for a restoration day at S\u1e48ID\u023bE\u023d<\/strong> (called on some maps Tod Inlet) and take part in healing the first W\u0331S\u00c1NE\u0106 Village site. Register by emailing our good friend Hannah at hannahglass96@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Weds 17 July<\/strong> 10am-2pm<\/span> you can double down that work at S\u1e48ID\u023bE\u023d with more PEP\u00c1KE\u1e48 H\u00c1UTW\u0331<\/a><\/strong> restoration day! This one is supported by our other friends at Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT<\/a>) \"\"register<\/strong><\/span> HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Friday 19 July<\/strong> 10am-1pm<\/span> for a Restoration Day on Songhees reserve land<\/strong> supporting the Lekwungen Community Toolshed<\/strong><\/a> (also supported by HAT). If you’re interested in coming, please email Gavin at gavin@hat.bc.ca<\/a>\u00a0to register.<\/p>\n

Fri 19 July – Sun 21 July<\/strong> there is of course the Sampson Family Powwow Honouring W\u018f<\/span>T<\/span>ANMY<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. There’s a chance that volunteer registration is closed. Contact the Sampson family<\/a> if you’d like to see if there is a chance to volunteer. If you are looking to come witness on the day, and support the Sampson family\u2019s annual event, check the site out HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Friday 26 July<\/strong> 10am-2pm<\/span> our good friend Sarah Jim<\/a> and her W\u0331S\u00cd,\u1e34EM Ivy Project<\/strong><\/a> are hosting a Restoration Day in the forests on Tseycum reserve lands<\/strong> (HAT is making my life easy and supporting most of these events).
