We know, we know. The word on the street (and by “street,” I mean a site that rhymes with “shred it”) is that UVic Law Admissions moves at the sedate pace of a sloth…or a turtle…or maybe a slug. If we were musicians, we would play only slow jams. If we had to name our favourite hobby, it would be taking our time. When we get pulled over for a traffic stop, it’s for driving under the speed limit.
We completely understand our admissions process takes time. And it’s okay to joke about it. We can take it. But do not mistake our thorough review for sluggishness, apathy, or actually moving slowly. We are a small team of very hard-working, competent people who find ourselves with a very big job every year. We put a lot of time and energy into our admissions process, and (here is what takes time) we want to make sure we get it right.
We promise. We are not purposely making applicants wait. Sometimes doing things well actually does take more time.
Remember, these are real humans actually reading your entire application.
So, for those of you who are wondering what the status of your application at UVic Law is right now, here is a snapshot. Many offers of admission have been made (and continue to be made) through all admission streams, and many denial letters have already been sent. We are still reviewing applications in all admission streams, and decisions will continue to be made through the end of April. Those who will be placed on the waitlist will find out their status middle to end of May. After that, you can expect some movement in all law school waitlists as people figure out where their home will be for the next few years. It’s that simple.
Thus, we ask this of our applicants – please withhold your requests to see if your application has fallen through a crack into a dark abyss until the end of May. If you don’t hear from us by then, please, by all means, reach out. We will then help you figure out if there is a glitch in the matrix, and your application has gone to another dimension.
