Hi, UVic Law applicants! As a reminder, the application deadline is December 1. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Part of the application package is completion of the Law Admissions Equity and Diversity Survey. Thus, if you do not complete the survey, your application will be incomplete and not considered. While required, please note that your survey answers will not be part of your admission file and will not be saved with your student file. More information on the survey can be found in our Equity in Admissions webpage.
In order to complete the survey, you will need a UVic NetLink ID. If you do not have a UVic NetLink ID, please visit https://www.uvic.ca/uvicid/get/index.php to obtain one. It will take our systems 24 hours to recognize a new Netlink ID. You must wait 24 hours after creating your NetLink ID before attempting to complete the survey. After the 24 hours has passed, you may then use your NetLink ID to login and complete the Admissions Equity and Diversity Survey.

I am confused about how to make a network ID without having a V number. All that was sent in the email when I created a profile to submit my application was my applicant ID.

Once your application is received by our office, which can take a few days after you complete and submit it, you will get an email from UVic containing your UVic student number, or V number. I would encourage you to create your NetLink ID as soon as you get this email. Please read all of the details carefully, as this email contains important information about how to proceed. Following this, you will receive an email inviting you to complete the survey. You will need to wait 24 hours after setting up your NetLink ID before completing the survey. -Deb
Hello! Follow up question regarding this–does this mean I need to submit prior to the December 1st deadline to be able to obtain a V number and then do the survey before the application deadline? What if I submit my application prior to the deadline but don’t receive a V number in time to activate and complete by Dec 1st?

Great question! If your application is submitted by the deadline, that is sufficient. We realize it will take a short amount of time to get your V# and NetLink ID. We ask that you complete these steps, along with the survey as soon as is reasonable possible to help keep our process on schedule. There is a short grace period after the deadline for this purpose.

just to confirm, if my application is received before the Dec 1st deadline but I do not get the V number and am unable to access my NetLink ID until after the deadline will my application be considered incomplete? Or is it simply that the survey needs to be completed as soon as possible once the information is received? I am just concerned that upon submitting my application I will physically not be able to access the survey before the deadline and if that will make my application incomplete. Thanks!
