Application Tip: Be Prepared

This is a quick note of clarification about applying for UVic Law. The application itself is not set up for applicants to complete it in pieces. It is set up for applicants to complete it in one go. That is, it is not possible for applicants to complete part of the application, go for a run and have a meal, then get the rest of it done. Once you start, you need to finish it.

That said, you can prepare yourself before you start the application so that this isn’t an overwhelming task. Here are the recommended steps to completing the UVic Law application:

Step 1: Create a file folder on your desktop specifically for the application documents.

Step 2: Read all of the application instructions. Read the website and relevant blog posts. Clarify any questions you might have.

Step 3: Gather your documents. Your Personal Statement, any additional statements, your transcripts, and any other documentation you intend to upload should be saved in the application file folder on your desktop. This will not include your references or your LSAT score, as those are sent separately. This step can take all the time you need (within the constraints of the deadlines, of course).

Step 4: Complete the application – ALL OF IT. Do not get up from your computer!

Step 5: Upload all of your documents – ALL OF THEM.

Once you have done all of these, you can get up from your computer, knowing you put your best foot forward. It is possible to take your time with Steps 1-3. However, Steps 4 and 5 need to be done at the same time.

This is my dog Moose. Again, he has nothing to do with the blog post. He’s just cute, and we all deserve to see cute things.
