Hi, future UVic Law students! Our application cycle opens each year September 1 with all an application deadline of December 1. All applications submitted must be complete and include all required documentation by this deadline. Applicants are encouraged to apply early and submit documentation as early as possible, as we begin reviewing applications in the order they are received. An incoming class is frequently full and a waitlist started before the December 1 deadline.

Before you apply, make sure you check out our admission streams for first year students (General Admission, Inclusive Admission, Indigenous Admission, and Black Admission). Each stream has different criteria for eligibility and unique application requirements. In addition to the JD, we offer a Joint Degree in Canadian Common Law and Indigenous Legal Orders (JD/JID). The JD/JID also accepts applications under both the General Admission Stream and the Inclusive Admission Stream. UVic Law additionally accepts applications for double degree programs and for upper year admission.

Each admission stream or program has unique admissions requirements. However, the basic requirements for admission for all applicants (online application. Application fee, LSAT score, Personal Statement, and unofficial transcript) are the same. If you are looking for some guidance on your Personal Statement, check out the following blog posts:

If you are looking for guidance on other parts of your application, you may find these blog posts helpful:

We have also done a series of webinars that answer some common Admissions questions.

What you can expect from this blog in the coming weeks are posts meant to aid applicants in writing some of the unique requirements for our admission streams, such as the Inclusive Statement, the Black Admission Statement, and the statement describing connection to Indigenous community. We want to ensure applicants have as much information as they need to craft the strongest applications possible, so if we are missing anything, please let us know!
