TOP 10 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GET HERE…

 

  1. As an incoming 1L student- we register you in your classes for you- no mess, no stress! Look for schedules and exam info on our web pages.
  2. Our year starts off with an Opening Ceremony on Tuesday September 5. It is mandatory and fun! You will be provided with a schedule and details in August.
  3. The LSS (Law Student Society) and ILSA (Indigenous Law Students Association) plan some AMAZING orientation days, nights, and weekend events for all law students during the first two weeks of classes in September. Check your UVic emails frequently in August for information and a schedule of events.
  4. There are lots of student supports available- check some of them out: Student Wellness, AMICUS, and Student Support
  5. Legal Process (LAW 106) is a credit course and part of the required first-year curriculum. It runs for 9 weeks beginning Tuesday, September 5. This will be your only course during this time.
  6. We work closely with CAL (Centre for Accessible Learning)- If you have received similar support previously while completing your first degree, it is advised you reach out to CAL now to start the process of registering with them for the academic year.
  7. The Fraser building and the future NCIL are going through a lot of changes. Check out the progress. You will be a part of some incredible moments during your time with us.
  8. We have an orientation guide available to help answer your FAQs.
  9. We will hold a Law Student Services Open House on September 19th– you can find out about clubs, teams, and services like international exchange and Co-op Education.
