University Systems began its first University-wide cyber awareness campaign in fall 2018, #UVicCyberAware, to teach students how surf safely! #UVicCyberAware involved on-campus booths, online resources and a cyber awareness contest. To enter the contest students completed a skill-testing quiz on Coursespaces. Want to try it for yourself? Find it here: uvic.ca/UVicCyberAware
To further reach the UVic student body, an online Coursespaces contest was published for the months of September and October available across campus. Students entered to win by finishing a cybersecurity quiz – testing them on best practices and example scenarios – to win one of five $150 gift cards. The quiz was advertised across as several platforms: posters, twitter, digital signage and the Coursespaces homepage; Engagement reaching almost 3,000 student entrants! Five lucky winners were randomly selected in November and four were available to stop by the Computer Help Desk in person to pick up their prize. Meet our winners!
