Going Live

Updates to Gustavson BCOM, MBA, and MGB Apex applications were completed in November and development team is currently working on the International Programs module.  These modules provide academic advising support for business students.

The IDAM team performed a Sailpoint IdentityIQ upgrade in November. The IdentityIQ application provides the basis for our identity governance and administration controls at UVic.  These controls provide account-lifecycle onboarding and role-management capability for all staff, faculty, students, researchers, alumni, and affiliates in our community.  These capabilities ensure that our user profiles gain and lose the correct set of roles to allow access to only those UVic applications that our users are allowed to access.

The DEVS front end team worked together with UC+M to successfully complete transition to HTTPS for uvic.ca. This upgrade ensures our web content is delivered over secure encrypted channel and more information can be found in a separate blog post.

The Enhanced Planning Tools project team celebrated their successful fall release (PC0734) with a colourful Piñata from Nancy Wright. This project delivered data load improvements and bug fixes.

The PMO and Development Services team collaborated to provide an upgrade to the Systems project information system (PROMIS). With the upgrade in place, project managers are able to upload their project tasks directly into PROMIS and perform detailed reporting on the status of the project. Several tutorials on the new functionality were provided following the go-live and video tutorials are coming soon!

In other news today… UVic News. UVic Communications + Marketing (UC+M) has released a new public hub for campus news. UVic News is a new website that features stories about researchers and their discoveries, student life and learning, and other campus happenings, such as Vikes sports. Moreover, the site publishes news releases, intended to share UVic’s stories with other news media organizations. The new site, that’s built in UVic’s central web content management system, Cascade, is the result of a collaboration between UC+M and University Systems Development Services.  News stories are written, curated and published by UC+M staff in the News Management System (NMS), developed by Systems web developers. Stories are syndicated out from the NMS to other uvic.ca sites, including UVic News.

Media Services webcast Climate change: legal risk and opportunities for professionals, presented by Deborah Carlson, West Coast Environmental Law for the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions on November 22, 2017.
