On behalf of the First Nations Health Authority – Office of the Chief Medical Officer (FNHA) and the University of Victoria – Faculty of Health & Social Development (HSD), supported by the Indigenous Mentorship Network of the Pacific Northwest, we would like to extend our invitation to UVic Indigenous students in 3rd or 4th year of undergrad or 1st year of masters to apply for selection to attend the inaugural Indigenous Health Fusion Team Challenge (IHFTC).
We are looking to select 30 Indigenous Students who are in health and health-related programs to participate in the inaugural Indigenous Health Fusion Team Challenge on UVic campus.
For any questions on the application process please contact: imnpn@uvic.ca
More information about the event:
The Indigenous Health Fusion Team Challenge (IHFTC) is an Indigenous student experience that will be held from in the First Peoples House (UVic Campus) on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen peoples – the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSÁNEĆ First Nations.
The IHFTC is a model generously shared with us from our sister organization Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA) who have been holding this initiative for over 7 years in Australia and are global leaders in the work of supporting Indigenous Students in Health. This is an exciting opportunity for Indigenous students in varying health-related disciplines to come together in a fun and interactive experience designed to support knowledge exchange and Indigenous perspectives through interdisciplinary teamwork. Students will hear from Indigenous Health Professionals currently working in their field of study and other health related work. The Challenge will bring the teams together to develop a health care management plan in response to an Indigenous Case Study Scenario.
Reschedule will be announced once UVic resumes regular operations.
If you have an event or activity you would like to host connect with your Graduate Peer Mentor at your site and they can help you coordinate it. We are always looking for more opportunities!
