IALH Research Fellow Sam Liu has co-authored a new research article entitled Perceived Smartphone Addiction Predicts ADHD Symptomatology in Middle School Adolescents: A Longitudinal Study with collaborating authors Christopher Emmett Sihoe and Ulrich Mueller. The article was published in Computers in Human Behavior Reports.
Highlights:
– Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms moderately correlated to Smartphone Addiction (SA) scores.
– Results provide evidence of stability of SA over one-year period.
– High SA scores predicted greater ADHD symptoms one year later.
– ADHD symptoms did not predict later SA scores.
– Quality of users’ relationship to smartphones may predict future mental health outcomes in adolescents.
