IALH Research Fellow Christine Ou’s new research article entitled A call to action about nurses promoting healthy sleep highlights the importance of healthy sleep for individuals of all ages. Dr. Ou and collaborating authors Wendy A. Hall and Elizabeth Keys suggest that nurses, with their extensive training and presence in various healthcare settings, can provide nonpharmacological interventions and education on sleep hygiene and cognitive-behavioral treatment for insomnia. They point out that registered nurses have been largely overlooked in national strategies and initiatives related to sleep health and highlight the need for incorporating nurses into training programs and recognizing their potential contributions to promoting healthy sleep. The article was published in Sleep Medicine.
