These listening quizzes were designed as part of a research project to find out what the biggest speaking and listening challenges are for Hul’q’umi’num’ learners. If you would like to participate in this project (which would be great!) please go to the consent form.

The quizzes below are organized by SOUND TYPE, e.g. front fricatives th, lh, s, sh.
Some of these quizzes are also on this other page, which is organized by LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY.
In the tables below, the practice and assessment quizzes that are exactly the same except for one thing:
- PRACTICE quizzes: allow you to listen to each word as many times as you want before deciding what you hear (good for practice)
- ASSESSMENT quizzes: only let you listen to each word twice before deciding what you hear (good for seeing where you’re at with your listening abilities)
Note: Safari doesn’t seem to like the quizzes, we recommend using Chrome.
