UVIC Engineering and Computer Science Orientation
The ESS is inviting you to the faculty of Engineering and Computer Science New Student Welcome! Freshmen orientation is a great way to get involved with the UVic ECS community from the moment you step onto campus (or start participating at UVic virtually).
Sign up online at the link https://www.uvic.ca/orientation (the link is also provided in an email sent to you in July).
- When you arrive at orientation, you will check in outside the engineering and computer science buildings, will be directed to your group and group leaders, and will be given an orientation t-shirt and ECS merch!
- ECS merch will be mailed to our international students who attend orientation virtually.
- Throughout the day there will be a couple competitions and challenges for your group to compete in. The winning groups will receive prizes at the end of orientation.
- Lunch provided will be pizza (dairy free, vegan, and gluten free options will be provided), veggies and juice. Bring additional snacks if you think this will not be enough.
- Please bring a water bottle! There are water filling stations on campus.

The ESS is hosting a night event at Peacocks billiards in downtown Victoria from 7pm-10pm! Mingle with your new classmates, play some pool, and spend the evening hanging out downtown in your new city. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Sign up using the link below.

Would you like to participate in the first year engineering orientation and be a group leader?
This September 7th, the ESS is teaming up with the Engineering and Computer Science faculty to host an orientation for first year students.
Freshmen will be divided into groups of 5-10, and we need 1 or 2 leaders for each group to guide people to the different activities, be a resource for questions, and be an instant friendly face.
Can you be an orientation volunteer? Are you,
– An Engineering or Computer Science Student?
– Available on September 7th from early morning until around 2:30pm?
– An inclusive person who can make new students feel welcome?

After signing up, more information will be circulated by email about a quick online zoom training session, and how to be prepared for the day.
