About

This site was created by UVIC students as part of the ‘A City Goes to War‘ history course and website.  Many thanks to Sherri Robinson and Gregory Evans at the Esquimalt Municipal Archives and Clare Sharpe at CFB Esquimalt Naval Museum & Archives.

Shea Baldwin is a 3rd year Undergraduate student and a History Major. Her preferred range of history is the World Wars and the Holocaust. She has worked in the Union Bay Museum and has volunteered for the Comox Air Force Museum. She hopes to pursue her passion for history as a career, but is still deciding what that will be.

Catherine Gilbert (webmaster) attended UVIC for the fall semester of 2015, taking selected history courses in preparation for Graduate studies. She earned her Honours BA Bilingual degree in History and French at York University in 1995, has worked in the museum world as well as in teaching and is a published author, historian and lecturer. Her areas of interest are World War Two, coastal exploration and the environmental history of Vancouver Island and the adjacent islands. She is a member of the BC Historical Federation and the Captain Cook Society.
