Ruth Digby is a PhD student in Adam Monahan’s research group, co-supervised by Nathan Gillett from the Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis. Ruth studies the COVID-19 lockdowns and what they can teach us about human influences on the climate. Her research has investigated the impacts of aviation on cirrus cloud cover and the response of aerosol concentrations to changes in emissions. Currently she is using observed changes in aerosol optical depth to evaluate the sensitivity of Earth System Models to rapid emission changes. For her Master’s degree, Ruth studied the evolution of dwarf galaxies in cosmological simulations under the supervision of Dr Julio Navarro.
