Ameneh is a PhD student at the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria. She is working on the incorporation of excess ground ice and its impacts into the Canadian Land Surface Scheme including Biogeochemical Cycles (CLASSIC) model under the supervision of Drs. Colin Goldblatt and Joe Melton. She will develop the capabilities of CLASSIC, the terrestrial component of the Canadian Earth System Model (CanESM), to simulate permafrost region processes. The parameterizations developed through her project will be incorporated in future versions of CanESM informing global efforts around climate change impacts such as the IPCC assessments. She completed a BSc in Atomic & Molecular Physics and an MSc in Meteorology at the University of Tehran. Her Masters research studied the impacts of the NAO on the relation between the North Atlantic and Mediterranean storm tracks using the NCEP/NCAR and JRA-55 reanalysis data. She has also studied variations in the Atlantic storm track’s intensity based on EKE in response to climate change.
