Natalia is a Master’s student in Andrew Weaver’s research group, co-supervised by Michael Eby. Natalia is using the UVic Earth System Climate Model (ESCM) to look at carbon leaching from marine plastic pollution, on a global scale. She is looking at the potential impacts that large-scale carbon leaching may have on oceanic and atmospheric processes and is focusing on upper-bound measurements of this plastic-carbon leaching. For her honours degree, Natalia studied succession rates of forests after human disturbance in the Niagara region of Ontario as well as the effect of gypsy moths on tree growth.
