Nadiya is a MSc student in Earth and Ocean Sciences supervised by Dr. Adam Monahan. She has a BSc in Physics and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Alberta with a research background in ocean and sea ice modelling. Nadiya is interested in developing a deeper understanding of how the physical climate works and how we can effectively model it. Her current research involves looking at new ways to model the spatial dependence of extreme climate events using machine learning techniques. Nadiya has strong interdisciplinary skills and hopes to one day apply her physics background to climate communication and policy.
