Undergrad Summer research top-up funding from Quantum Computing CREATE Program

Top up scholarship in the amount of $1,125 are available to students who meet the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate students in any year of their program
  • Scholarship is for undergraduate summer research projects related to quantum computing
  • Priority given to NSERC USRA applicants, but co-op or volunteers may also receive it
  • Scholarships are limited to students from underrepresented groups
  • Application deadline is March 30, 2021

Admission updates for the September 2021 intake to the Entry-to-Practice PharmD:

 English requirement: applicants must present two semesters of university English composition, literature, communication and/or writing courses at any year level (for which UBC awards transfer credit). The courses do not need to transfer as English transfer credit to UBC. This replaces the previous English requirement of applicants present one semester of first-year English writing or composition (for which UBC awards English transfer credit) and one semester of English at any year level (for which UBC awards English transfer credit).

LOGIC Retreat 2021

We are excited to announce that LOGIC2021 “Be the Catalyst for Change” will be taking place online the week of August 7th-13th .

Pre-recorded seminars will be posted during the week of August 9th to 13th. Q&A sessions with the speakers will be scheduled on the same week, either live or via a forum chat. Live-streamed workshops and panel discussion are currently being planned for the weekend of August 7th to 8th.

Abstract submission will be open soon for participants to share their scientific work as a flash talk as well as their extracurricular work via a twitter poster.

Online networking opportunities and socials are offered for all participants!

Indigenous Cultural Acumen Training

Chem EDI is organizing an Indigenous Cultural Acumen Training for all members of the department of chemistry, which includes undergrad students. This training session is to provide information about the colonial context (historical and current) of Indigenous people in Canada and will be held on Monday, May 3 2021, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (mark your calendar).

Looking for Global Community Volunteers for Fall 2021

Volunteer with the UVic Global Community! The UVic Global Community is looking for Undergraduate and Graduate Conversation Partners and Mentors for the 2021-2022 Academic Year (September 2021 – April 2022) who want to help build an inclusive, globally-minded campus and support international students with their social and academic transition to UVic. Global Community Volunteers are matched with up to three students and meet with their student(s) for a minimum of 1 hour every week throughout the term to encourage students to get involved in our community and build confidence in conversational English, all while making connections with people from around the world. Our Spring Application Deadline is March 12th, 2021.

2021 Spring Workshop and AGM – Biodiversity in Soils: Environmental, Social, and Economic Effects

Thank you for your interest in the 2021 Spring Workshop and AGM! We will be featuring soil scientists and experts from many disciplines discussing key issues related to Diversity in Soils: Environmental, Social, and Economic benefits in a changing world.

Registration cost will be $15 for students and $50 for non-students. The price includes registration and a PRSSS annual membership for 2021/2022. The 2022/2022 membership registration cycle lasts from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

Student Poster Competition

The PRSSS is accepting submissions for its annual Student Poster Competition with cash prizes. The competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Posters presentations will be held using zoom breakout rooms and will be viewed during the lunch break.
