The 3M National Student Fellowship honours up to ten full-time undergraduate students at Canadian institutions who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and innovation through seeing current needs in higher education or society and implementing change in their lives and at their university. These students embrace a vision of quality education that enhances their academic experience and beyond.

Fellowship recipients receive $1000 (to be spent at their discretion) and are invited to join other award winners at the annual conference of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE). They will also participate in a 3M National Student Fellowship Program summit. Awardees will receive a contribution towards their cost of travel to and accommodation during the conference.

Application deadline is November 30.

Applications are being accepted for the following awards to support a research project in a Chemistry group during the Summer 2022, Fall 2022 or Spring 2023 term.  Interested students must secure a supervisor before formally applying.  Research interests and contact information of our faculty members can be found on our website.

NSERC USRA (Undergraduate Student Research Award)
This award provides $6,000 from NSERC plus a top-up of $3,500 from the research supervisor.  Information and the application form are found on the NSERC website.  A copy of your unofficial transcript should be included with the application.

SURA (Science Undergraduate Research Award)
This award provides $4,000 from the Faculty of Science plus a top-up of $4,000 from the research supervisor.  The terms of reference and application form are found on the Faculty of Science website.

SERA (Science Emerging Researcher Award)
This award provides $5,500 from the Faculty of Science plus a top-up of $3,500 from the research supervisor.  The terms of reference and application form are found on the Faculty of Science website.

A student may apply for more than one of the awards.

Completed applications forms must be submitted to dsecchem@uvic.ca by the deadline of February 28.

UVic Women in Science would like to celebrate the Graduating class of 2021/22 virtually in a special feature “NxGen STEM”. In this regard, we welcome nominations of students (graduate and undergraduate students) who are graduating this year or early next year.
