Interested students can register here. Registrations close on March 12th.  Preference is given to BIPOC students. Limited Spots. Apply today

The symposium with support from the NSERC Science Communication Skills (promo) Grant, is designed to equip post-secondary BIPOC students and early career scientists with critical science communication skills by leveraging the unique voices and lived experiences of BIPOC speakers in STEM disciplines. Through this symposium, we aim to provide attendees with networking and professional development opportunities to support their long-term goals in STEM.

The symposium will feature a keynote presentation from a distinguished STEM BIPOC leader, workshops on science through a story, opportunities in scicomm, a panel discussion on navigating current challenges in STEM, and a student research PITCH competition.

The symposium will offer the following benefits to the attendees:

  1. Learn about potential science communication opportunities in Canada,
  2. Networking opportunities to meet like-minded STEM leaders, listen to their STEM journeys and build lifetime mentors to support your STEM journey,
  3. Opportunity to participate in an elevator pitch competition, get expert feedback, and win exciting prizes.
  4. Exciting workshops that can help to initiate their own science communication journey
