Title: The Effect of Gaze Reinstatement Precision on Memory

Abstract:
Previous research has illustrated that eye movements during memory retrieval recapitulate gaze patterns during encoding – a phenomenon known as ‘gaze reinstatement’. While gaze reinstatement has been linked to memory performance, the direction (and extent) of this relationship remains an open question. In this talk, I will propose a study that probes this relationship and examines whether precise gaze reinstatement will be beneficial to memory. The study aims to test this question by manipulating the precision of gaze reinstatement of encoded shapes during retrieval and testing its impact on memory performance. Task design details and predictions will be discussed.
